Based near to what the locals call Atze’s Corner on the outskirts of the Barossa Valley township of Nuriootpa, we are a family owned and operated business.
Our oldest Shiraz vineyard was established by the Atze family in 1912, which my parents John and Barb purchased in 1975. Since then they have worked hard to establish new vineyards on the old Atze property and in the iconic Barossa sub regions of Ebenezer and Koonunga Hill. Atze’s Corner Wines are sourced entirely from these vineyards.
We aim to make wines which best represent our region. The Barossa has some of the oldest Shiraz vines in the world and is internationally renowned for its premium Shiraz wines. With that in mind we decided to make our first wine (120 cases) from our oldest and lowest yielding Shiraz vineyards at Nuriootpa, one planted in 1912, and the other in 1951.
We followed this in 2006 with a Shiraz based blend, encompassing various other red wine grape varieties which best represent the particular vintage.
