An open letter from Atze’s Corner wine grower Andrew Kalleske
The step from grape growing to making Barossa wine
Generations of of hard work and an unrelenting desire to deliver consistently high quality products, my family has developed a culture of making distinctive wines that are characteristic to our vineyards.
This culture is based on meticulous care taken with the vineyards, and is fuelled by our infinite passion to delivering great wine to our much loved customers every time.
What seems like aeons ago now, we had our first parcel of Barossa Valley Old Vine Shiraz made into wine, at what would soon be named Atze’s Corner (pronounced At-Zee’s).
The weathered and gnarled old vineyards had pretty shunned by the major wineries the previous few years, and the frustration of seeing their rare fruit go to waste got the better of us all (the folks, John, Barb and me!)
And, in a heart beat, away it went! Through blood, sweat and tears, from grape growing and a mixed farming, to making wine that is carefully transferred from the land, the vine and the season.
Sniffing lifted aromas and seeing dark red colour of the Barossa Valley Old Vine Shiraz always stirs a sense of delight and satisfaction in me when pouring this wine into glass.
Quality is the essence of everything we do. Atze’s Corner will continue to relentlessly pursue the goal of making the best wine for your pleasure.
